Energy information, property documentation and photographs may contain personal information even where that is not their primary purpose.
We do not normally require sensitive information. If sensitive information is relevant to your circumstances, we will only collect it where reasonably necessary and with your consent or where otherwise permitted by law.

4. When we disclose personal information
We only disclose personal information where reasonably necessary for our business, where you have authorised the disclosure or where it is permitted or required by law.

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not provide client information to energy-product suppliers in exchange for commissions or referral payments.
Where a report or project relates to an organisation, property owner or other commissioning party, information may be shared with that party in accordance with the agreed scope.
5. Overseas processing and storage
Some third-party technology, cloud-service and AI providers may process or store information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where their infrastructure or support teams operate.
These providers may include services used for website hosting, online forms, email, analytics, cloud storage, artificial intelligence, document preparation and business administration. Provider locations and infrastructure may change over time.
We select reputable service providers and use available security and privacy settings appropriate to the nature of the information being handled.
6. Website data, cookies and analytics
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies for:

Cloudflare hosts this website. Cloudflare Turnstile provides the security check on our forms. Cloudflare may process technical information, such as an IP address and browser details, outside Australia.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect how the website functions.
Our website may link to government websites, program providers and other external services. Those organisations operate independently and have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external websites.
7. Email guides and marketing
If you request the Tasmanian Energy Rebates Guide, we will use your email address to deliver the guide and communicate about that request.
Receiving the guide does not require you to consent to ongoing marketing. Marketing consent is optional.
If you choose to receive news, guides or service updates, you can unsubscribe at any time by:
- Selecting the unsubscribe link in a marketing email; or
- Emailing info@tasmanenergyadvisory.com.au.
Unsubscribing from marketing will not prevent us from sending necessary communications about an enquiry, booking, active service, invoice or other existing business relationship.
8. How we protect personal information
We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal information against misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

No internet transmission or electronic-storage system is completely secure. If a data breach occurs, we will assess and respond to it and make any notifications required by law.
9. How long we retain information

Please include enough information for us to understand and investigate the issue. We will acknowledge your concern and aim to provide a response within 30 days.
If the Privacy Act 1988 applies and you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
12. Use of artificial intelligence and digital tools
Tasman Energy Advisory may use commercial artificial-intelligence and digital productivity tools to support its services and business operations.
These tools may assist with:
- Organising and summarising project information.
- Analysing energy data, bills and technical documents.
- Conducting research and checking calculations.
- Preparing, reviewing and formatting reports.
- Drafting routine communications and administrative material.
- Improving internal workflows and quality assurance.
AI and digital tools support professional judgement. They do not replace it. Material findings, recommendations and client reports are reviewed by Tasman Energy Advisory before they are issued or relied upon.
Where personal or project information is processed using these tools, we take reasonable steps to:
- Limit the information to what is reasonably necessary for the task.
- Remove or reduce direct personal identifiers where practicable.
- Avoid entering sensitive information or unnecessary identifiable information into publicly available consumer AI tools.
- Use reputable business-grade services with appropriate privacy and security controls.
- Review AI-generated material for accuracy, relevance and potential errors.
- Configure services to restrict the use of submitted business content for general model training where this option is available.
Information processed by an AI or digital-service provider may be stored or handled outside Australia, as explained in Section 5.
Any AI-generated or inferred information about an identifiable person will be handled as personal information under this policy.
We do not knowingly use client information to develop or train our own AI models. We also do not use AI to make solely automated decisions that could reasonably be expected to significantly affect an individual’s rights or interests.
If a proposed use of personal information through an AI system is materially different from the purpose for which the information was collected, we will seek consent where appropriate or required.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our services, technology providers, information-handling practices or legal obligations change.
