What We Assess

At Tasman Energy Advisory, we take the mystery out of achieving your energy goals

What You Receive

A clear plan showing what to improve first, and why.

Your Home Energy Performance Report brings together the building inspection, existing equipment, household priorities and available energy data.

It includes:

  • the home’s key performance constraints;
  • prioritised recommendations;
  • suggested upgrade sequencing;
  • indicative costs where appropriate;
  • clearly stated observations and assumptions; and
  • practical next steps.

A post-report discussion is included so you can ask questions and clarify the recommended way forward.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a home energy assessment cost in Tasmania?

Current home energy assessment pricing is $770 including GST for properties under 150 m², $935 including GST for properties from 150–250 m², and from $1,100 including GST for properties over 250 m² or complex properties.

What does a home energy assessment include in Tasmania?

The assessment includes a pre-assessment questionnaire and information review, an on-site inspection and discussion, analysis, a written Home Energy Performance Report and a post-report discussion.

Depending on the property, it may consider the building fabric, heating and cooling, hot water, ventilation, condensation, bills, tariffs, solar, batteries and future electrification.

What information should I provide beforehand?

Ideally, provide approximately 12 months of electricity bills and details of your major energy systems.

If available, 15-minute NEM12 interval data and solar or battery monitoring exports can support more detailed analysis.

Can you review my solar and battery system?

Yes, at an independent advisory level. Available generation, consumption, import, export and battery data can be reviewed to identify possible operating, monitoring, tariff or capacity issues.

This is not an electrical safety inspection or installer compliance certification.

Does a home energy assessment include thermal imaging?

Thermal imaging may be used when conditions are suitable and it is likely to add value.

It is an investigative aid rather than an X-ray of the building, so results must be interpreted alongside construction details, temperatures and other observations.

Do independent home energy assessments in Tasmania include a NatHERS rating?

No. The service provides independent, engineering-led advice and a practical improvement plan.

It is not an accredited NatHERS assessment, electrical safety inspection, building inspection or formal home energy rating certificate.

What qualifications should an independent energy advisor in Hobart have?

Look for engineering qualifications, independence from product sales, and experience investigating building and energy-system performance.

Tasman Energy Advisory is led by Jarred Nielson, a qualified mechanical engineer based in Hobart with more than 15 years’ experience across engineering, energy and asset management. Advice is funded only by clients; no commissions or referral payments are accepted.

Can you help me implement the recommendations?

Yes. A post-report discussion is included.

Additional support with product comparisons, quote reviews, tariff analysis, supplier discussions or other decisions is available at $220 per hour including GST. Project coordination can also be provided by arrangement.
